Musikalische Anatomie

Back to life!

Sad but true: 8 months and 4 days since my last post. No excuses (just been lazy), no promises for future activities.

I just came back from an inspiring Workshop about blogging - filled with new knowledge, motivation and ideas to give my little virtual planet a second start. (Deep in my heart I know I’m a blogger).

Spreadshirt is looking for a new logo

Spreadshirt, provider of customizable fashion online-shops and one of the most successful internet companies of the past few years, sets up a design contest to find a new corporate logo. Closing date is october 14th 2007.
As an enthusiastic shop partner of Spreadshirt (Foxyfish.com) and talented designer it is of course a must for me to enter this contest. My first sketches will be published here!

3D-modelling and -animation – why Blender3D?

cubesWith my third post I dive into the third dimension of computer graphics (and finally into one of the main topics of my blog)! Usually we percieve the world around us in three spatial dimensions. So to enrich the two dimensions of our flat screen with some reality we can use perspective to generate the illusion of 3D.

The easiest way to generate 3D objects, animations, etc. is to use a 3D content creation suite. Which one? I strongly recommend Blender 3D Here’s why:

  • Blender is very powerful and the developers are improving it constantly and fast.
  • It’s open source, so you can download it for free and maybe even help to develop it further.
  • Blender has a large community of competent and very helpful users and developers.
  • The UI of the software needs getting used to, but after the starting period you will recognise that it allows to work very efficiently.

So if you want to get involved in the wonderful third dimension of graphic design, download Blender 3D here for free and start blendering!

First real post

Hello, my name is Nick. After designing the appearance of my site and blog I’m now ready to start posting.

I am very enthusiastic about smart and user-friendly combinations of aesthetic design and technology, so this blog is (will be) about web-design, computer graphics in two, three or even more dimensions. Later on I will test my didactic flair and share my experiences in the form of tutorials (e.g. for Blender3D or Flash).

If you stumbled across nickspla.net and my blog in this early stage, you may have recognised that in the “PLANET”-Section there’s not much to see yet. It’s going to be a sort of portfolio, showing my results and experiments of my (web)design and CG work. Right now it’s under construction, surprising you soon with stunning graphics and a fresh and entertaining web-experience – so I hope you visit this page again in a few days!
